Tactical Edge is an elite cutting edge combatives system. Created by internationally renowned Close Combat Instructor Mark Davies, it was originally developed for use by elements of UK Special Forces. This original military syllabus has been expanded through the years to include a civilian system, as well as different stand alone modules.
We offer specialist training for military, Law Enforcement & Security Services. We have a wide range of modular courses available for professional operators ranging from basic level right through to 'train the trainer' level courses. We currently provide the Close Combat training for elements of UK Special Forces!

We are also the only ComTech affiliate group in Europe. Mark Davies is a private student of James Keating & is Europe's only Full ComTech Instructor. We are the only organisation in Europe able to offer ComTech systems such as Drawpoint, ComTech Bowie etc.

Tactical Edge is unusual as it has been completely field tested in combat. It is the synthesis of 28 years of Martial Arts training in a wide range of martial arts, & 20 years applying that training working in Nightclub Security, VIP protection & with Special Forces units. Mark started training in Martial Arts back in 1980 in Karate, moving over to ITF TaeKwon-Do in 1983 under the man who is still his TaeKwon-Do instructor- former ITF world champion Master Gordon Wallace 7th Degree Blackbelt. Mark always believed in cross training, & was especially interested in weapons arts & combat oriented arts. Passing his Blackbelt in 1987 he left TaeKwon-Do for several years to travel & train seriously in some of the worlds more unusual & less known fighting arts under some of the worlds top teachers, developing a love for the South East Asian arts which he has practiced ever since. Mark now travels over to the USA regularly to train as a private student with his friend & teacher Master at Arms James A Keating, who is the worlds leading authority on edged weapons combat & the worlds most advanced fighting concepts.

Mark is widely recognised as one of the UK's most combatively experienced & widely qualified martial artists.
What makes Tactical Edge different is Mark Davies' experience applying his training in real life. With almost 2 decades experience working in nightclub security he has been involved in literally thousands of violent encounters. He understands exactly how the predators of society act & how violent attacks REALLY happen. His work in high risk VIP protection, with Special Forces & in door supervision has allowed him to 'field test' the concepts, techniques & methods that make up Tactical Edge, & more importantly to be able to teach his students HOW the bad guys really work & how to defeat them. An example of this could be in knife defence; Mark spent several years working in one of the areas in the UK with the highest incidence of knife carrying & knife attacks. In the course of a nights duty you could have a knife pulled on you, or have to stop a knife attack on a customer several times. As a result Mark got to field test his knife defence methods against people who were REALLY trying to do him harm, people for whom attacking someone with a knife was a regular event! How many instructors teach knife defence that is just theory?

Tactical Edge has been enthusiattically received by martial artists of all styles. It is a 'conceptual' system, meaning that it is based on a series of concepts, rather than fixed set techniques that must be performed in a certain way. This means that martial artists from ANY style can excel in our system, & that people with no training can pick it up easily & quickly.

Too often we take for granted the people who place themselves in dangerous situations so that we can live in relative safety, & we give them little thanks. One of the things I love when I'm travelling in the USA is that ordinary people go up to uniformed servicemen & say "thank-you for your service" to them. This is something we don't see in this country very often.
Our Soldiers, Police & Emergency Services don't do it for the money. A front line soldier makes less than a traffic warden in most instances, which I find disgusting. Very often they get sub-standard personal defensive training, if & when they actually get it. Offering free defensive training to them is our way of saying thank-you & also helping them to stay safe. We would like to appeal to other nartial arts instructors to follow our lead, & say 'thanks' in the best way we can.
